What is a MedsCheck?
A Medscheck involves a one-on-one consultation with your Pharmacist. Your Pharmacist will review your medicines in store to help you:
  • Identify any concerns or problems you may have with your medicines;
  • Better manage your health conditions and improve your general wellbeing;
  • Improve the effectiveness of your medicines by using them correctly.
You may benefit from a MedsCheck consultation if:
  • You are taking 5 or more medications;
  • Your medications are making you feel unwell;
  • You are sometimes unsure about which medications you should be taking;
  • You see more than one doctor (including general practitioners and specialists);
  • Your medicines need monitoring (e.g. blood thinning medicines);
  • Your prescriptions have changed recently;
  • You have recently been discharged from hospital; or
  • You would like a better understanding of your medications.
Who is eligible for a MedsCheck?
  • Be a Medicare or DVA cardholder;
  • Have not received a MedsCheck, Diabetes MedsCheck, Home Medicines Review or Residential Medication Management Review in the last 24 months;
  • Be living at home in a community setting; and
  • Be taking five or more prescription medicines.
  • You do not require a referral from your GP.
How much does the service cost?
The service is FREE to eligible patients and fully subsidised by the government. 
How long will the consultation take?
Consultations last about 20 to 30 minutes.
